In the artist's own words: "The Prickly Pear is such an intrinsically detailed cactus. This painting was
inspired by a trip to the Hill Country of Texas. It was amazing to see the monarch
butterflies fluttering through, attracted to the brilliant blooms of this magnificent
cactus."
