Nubian Boy, matted archival pigmented print, 8"x10" matted to 12"x16"
In the artist's own words: "I painted this watercolor while living in Cairo in 1986. The Nubians lived in the valleys south of the Aswan High Dam, and so their beautifully decorated homes and way of life disappeared under the waters of the Nile river. Twenty-six years later, I lived in Sudan, which also has part of Nubia in its northern section. Then I learned that people could recognize his village from the pattern of his stripes on his shirt. Visitors to my exhibitions teach me so much!"
