In the artist's own words: "A spring-fresh study of protective Momma and babies. I chose to use hand-made paper with the paint to recreate the beautiful details of her plummage. It's a contrast in puffed-up pride and prickly 'don't come near my babies'. It's a soft, pretty piece with a steely silent message. Momma chickens are the best mommas."
